Supporting theWashington College of Law

The º£½Ç»»ÆÞ Washington College of Law provides a robust, comprehensive legal education featuring more than 30 programmatic initiatives and a clinical training program ranked #2 nationally. The diverse student body enhances the educational experience, fostering a rich and inclusive learning environment. During the Change Can’t Wait campaign, º£½Ç»»ÆÞWCL expanded experiential learning opportunities, strengthened commitments to inclusivity, and advanced research with global impact. Today, º£½Ç»»ÆÞWCL is well-positioned to sustain this important work, with a renewed focus on professional development, career transition support, Bar preparation, and a more deeply connected alumni community.

Change Created

  • Expanded worldwide rights to research through the º£½Ç»»ÆÞWCL Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property’s advocacy and work in copyright reform, funded by United Kingdom-based Arcadia.

  • Fostered a more talented, inclusive learning environment through new and increased scholarships, building upon a legacy of inclusivity to engage unique perspectives and uphold a commitment to scholarly excellence, reflected in the highest admissions index for an entering 1L class in the college’s history.

  • Propelled experiential learning by launching the Environmental Social Governance Initiative, Sport and Society Initiative, and Dean’s Professional Certificate, broadening externship opportunities, and offering a fully operational nationally ranked number two clinical program.

Interim Dean Heather Hughes
º£½Ç»»ÆÞWCL was founded on principles of inclusivity and the belief that lawyers are essential to improving society. Under Dean Fairfax’s leadership, our law school achieved its highest academic index and ascended the national ranks to become number one in clinical programming while championing equity as one of the most diverse law schools in the country. Philanthropy has significantly advanced these efforts, positioning º£½Ç»»ÆÞWCL to lead programmatically and academically. As we embark on a trajectory of growth and innovation, we will build upon the legacy of Dean Roger Fairfax and the impact of the Change Can’t Wait campaign.
