Bio
John D. Vogelsang has been working for over thirty-eight years in the areas of board development, strategic planning, organizational transitions and restructuring, conflict transformation, participatory evaluation, and small and large group dialogue and deliberation facilitation. His clients have included foundations, human service agencies, mental health agencies, community health centers, universities, professional associations, religious judicatories, arts organizations, and advocacy organizations. He is the Associate Director of the Michael Harrington Center for Democratic Values and Social Change and Director of the Dialogue Project for the Queens College/CUNY Center for Ethnic, Racial, and Religious Understanding. For two years, he was a visiting professor of nonprofit and NGO management and organizational conflict at the School for International Training Graduate Institute. For fourteen years he was the associate director of the Support Center for Nonprofit Management. He has published many monographs and articles on organization development, conflict, and leadership issues. He serves as the Editor in Chief of the OD Practitioner, the quarterly journal of the Organization Development Network. He is one of the co-editors of The Handbook for Strategic HR: Best Practices in Organization Development from the OD Network. He is the 2013 recipient of the OD Network Larry Porter Award for his contributions to the field.
