- Chuck Cushman is Dean of Academics at the US Naval Community College. Prior to that, he was Dean of the College of International Security Affairs at National Defense University (2014-20). Prior to that, he was a Senior Fellow at Georgetown University’s Government Affairs Institute (2011-14). Previously, he spent a decade at George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management. He was Acting Director of the School in his last year at GW. Professor Cushman is the author of An Introduction to the US Congress (2005) and a forthcoming book on Congress and national security policymaking. He served nine years in the US Army as an Armor officer, commanding troops in Germany and at Fort Knox, KY, and completing his service as an instructor in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point. Dr. Cushman was a defense consultant, a lobbyist working on Middle East peace, and was Legislative Assistant to Rep. David Price (D-NC).
