Subject:
Appointment of University Vice President and Chief Information Officer

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Munson as º£½Ç»»ÆÞ’s new vice president and chief information officer effective February 24, 2020.

Steve will be the principal technology leader for the university, providing the vision and management for developing and implementing information technology strategies and initiatives across º£½Ç»»ÆÞ. This role is critical as we implement our Changemakers strategy and utilize a wide spectrum of technologies to support our scholarship and research, create new learning opportunities for students now and throughout their lives, enhance the student experience, and improve how º£½Ç»»ÆÞ works.

This is a return to º£½Ç»»ÆÞ for Steve, as he previously served as director of integrated technology solutions in our Office of Information Technology (OIT) from 2010 to 2013. For the past seven years, Steve was the chief information officer at Marymount University, in Arlington, Virginia. In this role, he reorganized Marymount’s IT Services department and launched new enterprise resource planning (ERP) and learning management systems.  Prior to starting his career in higher education, Steve was a technology consultant at The North Highland Company and Accenture. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Vanderbilt University.

I want to thank Dave Swartz and our colleagues in OIT who work round-the-clock to ensure º£½Ç»»ÆÞ’s technology supports our mission and our community. We are grateful for their expertise and professionalism. As we previously announced, Dave Swartz will be retiring and will work with Steve as he transitions into his new role. I also want to thank the search committee who vetted our strong group of candidates, the diverse collection of faculty, staff, students, and alumni who participated in the search progress, and the Human Resources team who supported the process.

Please join me in congratulating and welcoming Steve as he rejoins the º£½Ç»»ÆÞ community.
